We have had two rescue dogs. The one that we have currently got is a rottweiler/german shepherd. We think he is about 5 yrs old. When we got him (about 1 year ago now)he always seemed to be quite unsettled and just had that general sad look about him, also the rottie in him did not help sell him to the public. When playing with toys or anything he would not leave, it was as if he was saying "you're not having it, thats the one thing I've got". After a lot of time and care he is now one of the most loving dogs I have ever known, and he will now share toys with anyone. In my opinion too many people choose rescue dogs on first impressions, which I don't think is fair. for example our dog had been at Battersea for 1 year and was then moved to Bellmead, I know that if I had been shut up in a kennel and moved from pillar to post, I might not be acting myself either and that is without going into what he might have been through before he went to Battersea
