Dog who has an allergy to pollen PetPlanet Vets PPAdmin pettalk@petplanet.co.uk |

My Dog Barney has an allergy to pollen every year. He is six and half years old and his diet is two meals a day of Pero chicken and rice gluten free food plus he likes raw vegetables ie. carrots, cauliflower etc. now and again. He is a very active dog and is a mongrel similar to a pointer, black, white and brown shorthaired. The reaction on his underside belly starts in April and goes on until about September/October. My vet has put him on Medrone which he has 4mg once a day unless it flares up badly and then the dose is increased for a short while. I would rather he had another form of treatment as I do not like to think about the side effects of the drugs he is taking. I realise that he is probably allergic to various pollens, ie. tree, grasses etc. Are there ways to alleviate his symptoms or to de-sensitise his skin? I would appreciate your advice, many thanks.
