Dear Tammy, It certainly sounds like your Shepherd has a very upset stomach. He is obviously feeling uncomfortable and wanting reassurance fromyou. The rumbling guts is due to excess gas in his intestines and the eating grass is because he feels uncomfortable { that is a dogs way of trying to make himself sick }. He would probably feel better if he was sick, or he may have a lot of wind and/or diarrhoea to come - so watch out !! The underlying cause is the important thing and that I cannot tell you by email. Hopefully he has just eaten something disgusting,as dogs love to do, and it is working its way through his guts. If he is starved for a day and then given light food that is often enough to sort them out. Or he may have a slight gut infection. But there are various other more serious causes such as pancreatic problems, irritable bowel, colitis,inflammatory bowel disease, etc. which would need treatment by your vet. By the time you get this email you will have a better idea of what is developing - he may a passed a load of wind and be feeling fine, or he willstill be miserable with vomiting or diarrhoea, in which case he needs to seeyour vet. Hope he is soon bounding around again,Maeve Moorcroft MVB MRCVS { PetPlanet Vet }
